Tiffany lends support to Christian Louboutin – Telegraph.

This argument looks to run and run…no wonder Tiffany are pitching into this lawsuit.  If you see someone walking down 5th Avenue carrying one of those small blue bags with the white, cord handles you know where they have spent at least some of their afternoon.  The chances are you might just fleetingly think of popping in there yourself…

It is pretty clear that a colour can be associated with a brand but whether that means you have exclusive rights to it or not is a different matter.  More plausible is that colour used in a certain way and in a certain place may be patented.  A particular shade of red on the soles of Christian Louboutin shoes and a particular shade of blue for a small bag with something rather special inside…
